A whole brand new year!
Hello everyone, and happy new year! I hope your holidays were awesome, and that you got lots of grazing time and King Leo’s peppermint sticks, like I did.
I’ve been busy some, and lazy some, so I haven’t posted lately. I’ve done lots of cool things, and have more fun stuff coming up soon, so I’ll be posting more now. My human says we’re going back to basics. I’m only 4 (going to be 5 in February), and I can excited about things.
As I have time available, what with my busy schedule of grazing and eating oranges, I’ll go back and tell you about some of the adventures I’ve had recently.
- I went to a show! I wasn’t in the show, I just walked around and looked at things, but it was still pretty exciting. I even got to walk around in the show arena. I might get to go back there and be in a real show this year.
- I went camping in the mountains! Just like the first time, when my human tried to take me out for a ride I started bucking like a rodeo horse! This time she fell off, though, and I ran and ran and ran around a big field. I’ll tell you more about that later.
- I was in a dressage clinic! I learned how to do lunging and ground driving. Those are easy - you don’t have to do any hard work, just walk around. Mom says we’re going to do more ground driving now.
- I went to a special saddle-fitting clinic, where I got lots of attention from a saddle-fitting super-hero guy (Jochen Scheese). He’s very nice, and wants horses to be happy. He showed my human how my current saddle doesn’t fit right.
It’s a beautiful day today, but in the last couple of weeks it rained and rained. I like rain! (Helloo, my name is Rainy for a good reason.)
One day while it was pouring rain I tried splashing in my pool, just to see how completely wet I could get. Apparently my donkey friends don’t like the rain as much. Our human gave them very nice Baker rain sheets for Christmas, and I got a lightweight blanket for hauling to lessons in the mountains in freezing weather.
While she was shopping, she also bought a thing that goes around me just like a saddle, but there’s nowhere to sit, just lots of big D rings. I got to try it on the other day, and I think today I get to find out what it’s for.
Last night I could hear our human cussing about membership renewal forms for a bunch of dressage associations. She’s very patient with me and the donkeys, but cannot abide poorly-designed forms on the Internet-thingy. She said some were so broken she is going to have to call on the phone to renew. I don’t know the details, but apparently she has to fill out these forms so I can be in shows this year.
Well, I’d better go get to staring in the back door. That’s what makes her come out and feed us breakfast, apparently. And staring gives me time to think about what I want to accomplish in the year where I turn 5 years old. I hope you have time to stand and stare and think, and that your whole year is awesome.
